The Week of Finals

Hey kids.

So, today I had juries.  For those of you who don't know, juries are a final for taking private lessons.  This one performance basically determines what your grade will be for the entire semester.  That's right, the thing that I've probably spent the most time on has the shortest final.  10 minutes to determine if the tons of hours you've spent this semester did any good.  Crazy.
Anyway, it's all over now.  I did fine.  Whatever.  I'm not thinking about it.  I'm glad it's over.

In other news, I have 6 real finals.  Six.  Sucks.
So, this is sort of my study break.  Thanks, internet!

Finals really don't seem like a great idea.  Why would you ever want to concentrate that much stress into a single week.  I just don't get it at all.  Whatever.  I can't change the system.  I'm working for the man, obviously.

PARENTS AND PEOPLE WITH DELICATE SENSIBILITIES:  DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING COMIC.  IT IS VULGAR AND I AM VERY OFFENDED BY IT.  HOW IT ENDED UP HERE, I MAY NEVER KNOW.

Speakers and Sanxgiving

Today, I got my very own set of surround sound speakers.
Surround sound is being used a bit loosely, here.  It's a 2.1 system, meaning there are two speakers and a subwoofer.  And it plugs into your computer, iPod, CD player, Walkman, whatever.
Basically, my dorm room is now a club.
Be jealous.

In other news, Thanksgiving is real soon.  This means a superfluous amount of food, relatives, and pie, all of which I am fond of.  But this Thanksgiving is going to be pretty weird for me.  It will be the last Thanksgiving before I'm dead for two years.  That's not the greatest thought in the world.  I guess it's just another part of me realizing that I'm basically an adult now.  Which is weird, because sometimes I'm totally okay with that and set for it, but other times I'm just so scared by it all.

Anyway.  Today's target is......... People with no discretion!
These people are everywhere in many different forms: there are the people who can't tell the difference between their bedroom and the public; there are the people who can't tell the difference between McDonalds and Five Guys; there are the people who can't tell the difference between Taylor Swift and Thom Yorke.
I'm not saying one of these is things is better than the other, or more appropriate, but I totally am.

That's exactly how I feel, Thom Yorke.  You understand me so well.
Now if you'd only tour somewhere where I could come see you.

Deep Breath

As I might have mentioned before, I had 4 exams this week.  That's insane.

But what's even more insane is that I averaged like a 92 for tests.  So far, anyway.  That's just the multiple choice section.  And, I mean, one of them had no multiple choice section.  So really, what I'm saying here is that out of two and a half tests, I did really good.

And I got 100% on my Principles of Audio test.  So yeah.  It was easy and funny, but still.  100% in about 15 minutes?  I'll take it.

Enough gloating.  Latest on my list of people that suck is my TA for American Heritage.  Basically, he's the worst.  So on my essay, which was really good, by the way, I got docked 20 points.  This was a 50 point essay, people.  That is not standard.

Among his "comments," 90% of which consisted of underlining things in the rubric, he listed, "logical, progressive organization" followed immediately by, "overly predictable."  Where is the line between logical and predictable?  I don't understand that.

But what really ticks me off is the dumb score on grammar.  I lost three points on grammar with absolutely no grammar mistakes, no spelling errors, with sentences of varying length and the use of dashes and semicolons.  The only thing he underlined on it was, "lacks sophistication."

That's the dumbest thing in the world.

Whatever.  In other news, me and the other freshman in the Sound Recording Technology program are trying to get extra time in the studio to get more familiar.  We talked with the head of the department and he set us up with a guy who will be more than willing to oblige us.  So that is looking so good right now.

That's about all that's going on in my life.  Also, music.  I've been listening.  I've been making.  I've been thinking.  Whatever.
I really want an analog synthesizer.  That's all.
(I do realize you don't actually care about my life all the time)
