Musix

Recently, I've been re-listening to a bunch of music I got a while back.  And here's what I discovered:
My ears are so much better at hearing things now.  This may sound a little pretentious or something, but being in music classes and getting serious about music has helped me hear a lot more depth in music.  Maybe this is also due to listening to things on better equipment and not just in my car stereo and actually paying attention to the music, but things are lots easier to hear now.  Even on crappy iPod headphones.  Which I actually happen to like, as far as earbuds go.

Also, Wilco is awesome.  It's actually recorded and mixed super well.  Especially Sky Blue Sky.  I love that album.  The guitars are so good sounding.  They're all fuzzy and slightly faded, but so, so warm sounding.  Also, they do some really interesting panning (panning is where the sound is mixed, as in right/left).  A lot of the guitar melodies are panned hard left and contrasted with the vocal entrances in center and then drums and bass and organ flowing all around.  I love the organ in Wilco.  It's so good sounding.

Anyway, now that I've thoroughly bored you and put in a huge advertisement, I'll leave with some hate:
People with ambiguous facebook statuses (stati?): STOP IT.  Are you really that starved for attention that you have to go to the internet and force other people to care?  Stop posting things like ":(" just so people will ask you what's wrong.  And if you're absolutely that desperate, at least have the courtesy to answer the poorly deceived commenters that do ask what's wrong.  Here's a good rule of thumb: if you can't see the screen through your veil of tears while you're typing, STAY OFF MY INTERNET.

Back from Break

Breaks are the best, people.  They really are.
But they're also the worst, because then you forget about responsibilities and stuff.
Moral of the story: Breaks are the best, school is the worst.

Anyway.  This semester should not be as bad as I thought it would be.  Sure, I have an ish-load of classes and stuff, but they're mostly music classes, which shouldn't be the worst.  And my schedule won't be as bad as I thought, as long as I can wake up on time.  But only Monday and Wednesday will be any bad at all.  Maybe.

So that's nice and more than you wanted to know.  Here's another reason breaks are great: you get to be with friends and some of those friends give you super awesome music.  I got so much new music over the break.  It was definitely the best.

And now the portion of the show where we take something completely irrelevant and make fun of it.
Hey people in bands: you suck.

Yeah, I went there.

Let's limit it, however, to people who shamelessly are always promoting their barely-okay-low-budget-barely-counts-as-a band.  Seriously.  Tell your friends.  Make a facebook event.  But stop shoving flyers in my face.  I DON'T CARE.  It's the worst.

Now a New Years' Resolution, to stay in keeping with the trend:
